magnificent wednesday book
Magnificent Rebels, Andrea Wulf. This is exactly the book I need to give me context on the origins of Romanticism in (now-)Germany, and fill in gaps in my historical knowledge. And it's just an engaging read, though less focused than the author's von Humboldt book. Favorite minor character of the moment is Fichte's long-suffering wife with her terrible fashion sense. Thinking I should maybe try the Schlegel translations of Shakespeare -- my Duolingo German is still at a basic level, but I know the original text of the plays well.
