Shards of Earth, Adrian Tchaikovsky. That sure was a space opera. Not my favorite Adrian Tchaikovsky, but hopefully he will deliver better payoff later in the trilogy.
A Conspiracy of Kings, Megan Whalen Turner. I think I liked this better on reread, knowing where it was going.
