wednesday books in brief

Arsenic and Old Lace, Joseph Kesselring, play readaloud. This was new to me and I enjoyed it -- quite a cast of characters, some nice metatheatrical bits, and a clever final twist. Though this seems like the sort of play that would benefit more from being performed on a stage rather than just read aloud over discord.

The Innocent Sleep, Seanan McGuire. Book 18 in the October Daye series, and the first one not to be from October's POV (though there have been a bunch of short stories/novellas with other POV characters). So far it's getting off to a good start, I'll report more later.

I don't think you should have much trouble with this one? Not with the main characters at least. And yeah, Mortimer is not inherently interesting in himself, but Cary Grant is SO good at reactions that he was really the best casting decision imaginable. If you enjoyed the play, I think you'll really enjoy the movie!
