The Bands of Mourning, Brandon Sanderson. The final book of Mistborn Era 2 -- wraps up a bunch of things while also leaving the future of the world open. Plot felt a bit predictable, but I like Steris and Marasi.
Search, Michelle Huneven. Recommended by Eugene on Discord. A novel about a search committee picking a new minister for a UU church. Engaging and sucked me in over a plane ride. Satirical, with some real earnestness, but also a lot of human frailty and failure, including the narrator's. I was more sympathetic to the younger characters than the narrator was, though that judginess is part of what made her an interesting protagonist. Gets the details of UUism right, and I suspect the dynamics are relevant to nonprofit politics more generally. Captures a certain sense of ambivalence to UUism that I currently share.
