Demon Daughter, Lois McMaster Bujold. Newest Penric! I enjoyed the domesticity of this one.

The Appeal, Janice Hallett. Recommended by [personal profile] skygiants. As advertised, this was an entertaining puzzle box mystery with good characterization and social commentary. The amateur drama group setting reminded me a bit of A Chorus of Disapproval (and one of the characters suggests that they should perform a different Ayckbourn play in the future!). Well-plotted though the ending felt a little underwhelming; I feel like I probably could have solved more of the mystery myself if I'd put in more effort / hadn't been turning the pages as frantically.

One thing that did throw me is that all money amounts (and there are a lot, the plot is about a fundraiser) were given in dollars, even though the book is explicitly set in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised if the US edition had been unnecessarily localized in other ways, since I missed that the book was set in the UK until around page 30 when people were discussing the difficulty of doing an American accent.

NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity, Steve Silberman. So far it's not so much about autistic people as about people trying to understand autism / autism spectrum disorders. Which is still an interesting story!
