landofnowhereGideon the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir. Still enjoyable, still making my way slowly. Currently feels extremely LARPy right now, with everyone trapped in a big house and trying to solve challenges that require multiple teams to pool their resources. Also half the characters are duelists and will fight duels on the slightest provocation, often with the winner getting items from the loser.
Lots of interesting character interaction going on, though the LARPy feel might be insulating me from it a bit. I appreciate that our protagonist is not one of the players who are trying to metagame everything, but is just a duelist with some character goals.
Oh, and there might be a "megatheorem", which really ought to be called a "metatheorem", the theorem you get by getting all the other theorems. I'm not entirely clear on why necromancy is about theorems, but the author is certainly having fun with her language :-)
