Imaginary Numbers, Seanan McGuire. This continued to be fun, and have ridiculous tropey math that isn't anything like doing actual math -- at least we had two characters talking about math with each other for once, though not enough. Also a giant spider! Hope to see more of Sarah after this, even if her main plot arc is done.

A Desolation Called Peace, Arkady Martine. This was good -- I think I liked it better than Memory Called Empire, though I will have to reread that one and see (which I'll be doing for book club!). Everything is better with weird aliens! Maybe a bit more generic space opera in its setting than the first, and the splitting up the story among 4 POV characters made it less intense, but I still found it gripping and moving. (And getting POV from the 11-year-old heir to the empire is so much fun!) I hope there will be more in this world.
