Writing: So I cranked out two explicit BTS fics for [community profile] super_effucktive [formerly known as Dick or Treat]. I also did a series of four short ficlets for my Yahtzee prompts in the original Dracula fandom and posted on [community profile] the_scent_of_lilacs. I managed the 10 of 20 challenge on [community profile] sweetandshort

I have another set of Yahtzee prompts, and I have three more categories I could fill before it ends (June 18/25) but I don't know if I am feeling motivated to do that. Part of me wants to cut bait.

Because in June, I am going to be focused on my case fic exchange fic. There is a certain voice I need to capture in my head, and it's tricky (not quite as tricky as Bertie Wooster but a challenge in its own right) so that takes mental bandwidth, clearing the mechanism.

Poetry: I am almost caught up on my 52 poem prompts. This week's (which I haven't done yet) is prose poem. 3 poems done in May. I liked Stacy. I think that one worked properly.

Reading: 7 books which brings me up to 30 for the year (which is fine. I have no goal with regard to number of books read).

I just realized I haven't done a Book Bingo update since the end of March so I should do that in June. I listened to The Guest List by Lucy Foley for the multiple POV square. It was okay. Nobody was especially likable and it was 'public schoolboys kill someone and finally face consequences 20 years later. lol' I have at least 3 more I can fill already so I need to sit down and update that. Also I have 2 in my TBR which fill slots. I think the hardest one is going to be the TV Movie Tie in because I don't watch TV or movies so if there are new things in this category in the mystery/detective genre, let me know. And I've already read all the Murderbots.

I am reading the Inspector Rebus in order and I've just finished #18 & #19. Unfortunately, I've already read the ones that had TV episodes about them. I read a short story collection by Tom Mead, the locked-room magician author I've mentioned before.

Crafting: 8 spreads & 6 cards and my Alma Thomas jigsaw puzzle.

June's color theme will be peach/orange as well as rainbow for pride. There is a different kind of craft I could do in June. I may break it out.

Heath & Fitness: 16 days of yoga. But my weight is up from the first of the year. I need to stop eating junk. That's most of the problem.

Personal: I turned 50! Wow! I applied for my AARP card even though I am not a retired person. I'm just old. The boys' father went to Kenya for 10 days and returned safely. Maintenace issues (leaks and mice) persist. And they are redrawing lines for schools so we will more than likely be moving by next spring.

And the big news, I got an email late on Friday saying to call the home health agency for an interview!!! I got it too late to catch the HR office open but I will be calling Monday morning!!

June is Pride! On y va!

Wild temperature swing yesterday, up to the mid-20s, followed by nose dive overnight so today was grey and cold and windy. But I went out to dinner last night with bro and s-i-l at their favourite bistro and decided to try using my hiking poles rather than the walker. Which was as well, because restaurant no longer has its patio at the front where the sloping brickwork obviates the need to hoist walker up or down. Has moved to the back of the restaurant, with planters blocking it off from the alleyway beside it. Able-bodied people can walk between the planters, walkers cannot. But I went through the restaurant with steps up and steps down and more steps up and found that hiking poles do not cut it. Also was wearing what I thought were a more reasonable shoe than my boats but in the event, no. Should have worn the boats, probably should have used my Gandalf staff, most certainly must do my neglected balance exercises.

Also backyard patio is under an overhang, meaning noise bounces up and back, meaning I couldn't hear half of what was being said to me. My hearing is still good enough but not with ambient noise. Granted, the front patio wasn't sheltered from the weather and in a town that rains as much as this one that's a drawback. But if we ever do this again, I'll insist on Not On Friday. I reserved my cab in advance but the dispatcher called ten minutes before pickup and asked was it OK if he came ten minutes later? Friday traffic, and he came in twenty minutes. (For a 6:30 dinner reservation I'd normally schedule the cab for 6, knowing that Diamond comes early. But without my walker to sit on, I was afraid my back might act up while I was waiting, so made it 6:15.)

Then returning both bro and I called Diamond. Mine came first, and as we were tooling along, dispatcher called the driver and asked if he would pick up the bro-tachi after dropping me off. Singular dearth of cabs in TO on a Friday, go figure. Called bro to say my driver would come back for them, garrulous cabbie said 'Tell him to have the patience of Job', so I passed the message on. Cabbie also told me to use cod liver oil, applied externally, for aching joints. Um well, advice from grannies it sounds like.

So that was my social outing for the month. Next must get me down to Bakka Phoenix on Harbord to pick up the two Murderbot books I ordered because still cannot parse eformat. But also Kindle has taken to hiding my purchases from me, so couldn't find Rogue Protocol on my phone, until I looked on the tablet where I'd been reading it. Then phone kindle said Oh, you wanted *that*, well why didn't you say so? Wonder what else the app is hiding from me?

I bought some string cheese a couple weeks ago on sale and today I breaded and fried it into mozzarella sticks. So good to eat! So messy to clean up after!

I slept poorly again last night - I had to shut the window while it was raining, and I don't know if it's the barometric pressure that's been giving me these headaches, but I don't like it. At least this cool rainy weather meant I made it all the way through May without turning on the AC. It looks like I will probably start needed it next week though. Last year, I signed up for the thing where they charge you the same amount each month to smooth out the ups and downs, which I've grown to prefer to the $110 swings in my electric bill come summer.

In other news, I learned that there really is a cocoa shortage and I'm not imagining it. So I'm glad I stocked up from King Arthur. Unfortunately, the bag had a small tear in it, so everything in the box it shipped with was covered in a fine dusting of cocoa powder. 🤨 But I washed it all and transferred the cocoa into a ziplock so it's all nice and tidy now.
