One might think that social distancing would mean I'd be spending a lot of time reading... but actually, it means that all my old friends are up for online socialization, so I'm actually more social in some ways really. I seized the opportunity to run an online Milk & Cookies storytime, which happened last night and went well; I read Search History for Elspeth Adair, Age 11, which went over well. And it will be a recurring event, so I will be looking for more good short stories that are < 10 min read-alouds.
The other thing I've been busy with instead of reading is watching the new His Dark Materials TV series. As someone who liked the books but hasn't read them in a long while, I'm finding it generally entertaining -- Philip Pullman can tell a good adventure story, and I enjoy watching it brought to life (even if the daemons feel a bit underused, probably for CGI budget reasons).
That all said, I did read a bit of The Unspoken Name, but I don't actually think I have much to say about it right now, so I'll wait for next week.
