Spiderlight, Adrian Tchaikovsky. That was pleasant. Does feel like the story of a stereotypical RPG campaign -- the spider-turned-human is the main innovative piece of worldbuilding -- but well done and with existentialism.
Shards of Earth, Adrian Tchaikovsky. It's a space opera! About halfway through and stuff has happened, but not super grabbed by anything yet. Good worldbuilding, though.
