wednesday books
14 August 2019 20:59 This is going to be a shorter book post, because I was busy with puzzle hunt and other things over the week, and because current reading is in French.
Les Disparus de Clairdelune, Christelle Dabos: I've made a good deal of progress on this, and it's been good. The plot thickens! I think I would read a series that was just protagonist + designated love interest solving mysteries with their superpowers (the ability to read the feelings of the people who have previously touched an object, and super memory+accounting skills, respectively) -- but there's also a lot else going on here. Designated Love Interest Thorn is definitely more interesting than the standard overbearing/rude love interest character. Protagonist still does not seem to have a clue that Thorn is the Designated Love Interest and doesn't really seem to be feeling the chemistry one way or another -- and their arranged marriage is in four days! But they'll have to survive those four days first, and there's a lot on the schedule. (So far I actually think Ophélie/Gaëlle is the most shippable pairing. But I respect Thorn for taking Ophélie's lack of interest in him graciously, or as graciously as he can when he's always rude and grumpy.)
