A Conjuring of Assassins, Carol Berg. More good fun with the Chimera gang! The pace dragged a little bit in the middle as the plot set up all the dominoes for the conclusion, but otherwise good.
A Summoning of Demons, Carol Berg. Third in the series, and gives some payoff to the worldbuilding that was happening earlier in the series. I can't tell if there will be more books or not -- the publisher is marketing it as "the thrilling conlusion", but it ends with a sequel hook, and there are still loose ends in the worldbuilding. I liked the new characters introduced in this book, particularly the one I wasn't necessarily expecting to like, and hope to see more of them in later books. There was a plot twist that I figured out well before the protagonist did, but as she was scrambling to stay alive, on top of the job, and un-possessed by demons, I can excuse it. Generally satisfying.
The Doors of Eden, Adrian Tchaikovsky. So far so good! So far there's a thriller plot with some sort of portal to another universe, and some intriguing interludes with alternate evolutionary history, and it's only starting to come clear what they have to do with each other. I appreciate the diversity in cast along multiple axes, though I'd like to see more of it in the point of view characters.
