landofnowhereThe House of Always, Jenn Lyons. Almost done, have caught up with the kraken! This has been a fun ride, not sure where it is going. I don't think I've mentioned that the framing device for this book -- characters are trapped in a time bubble and caused by plot to relive their memories -- is very LARPy.
Future reading plans: by popular demand, I have requested King of Shadows from the library. I also recently got out my French translation of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, which is an interesting object -- it often but not always leaves "gentleman" untranslated, to convey the Untranslatable Britishness of the Concept, and has extra footnotes from the translator, who wants us to know he likes Hugo's "L'Homme qui rit". I might try reading it again -- or might just skip to the Waterloo section to see what the translator has to say.
