Labyrinth's Heart, M. A. Carrick. The final Rook and Rose book! It took me a little bit to get into because I had to remember who all the minor characters are, but fortunately I still do remember the characters I care about. Put this down a good bit of the ways through but looking forward to picking it up again.

The Way of the World, William Congreve. Read-aloud -- fun comedy of manners from 1700. Advertised as "bawdy" but I did not find it particularly, at least not any more so than Shakespeare, and definitely less sex than Aphra Behn. Plenty of immorality in the play but that's not the same. Lots of interesting commentary about gender politics here -- there are women with various sorts of social power and money, and the plot is driven by men who are trying to get their hands on that money/power. Congreve has read the classics (Shakespeare and Jonson) and wants to let us know. Appreciated the glimpse into period beverages (Act I is set in a coffee-house that also serves cinnamon water, and later on we get a detailed catalogue of what drinks are and are not proper for a lady to serve at tea).

No French Terra Ignota post today as I'm behind on my reading, but expect more next week!
